A calm response to an unstable tree
Urgency assessed clearly
We use your description and photographs to understand what is immediately at risk.
Hazard comes first
The initial work focuses on unstable material, blocked access and nearby property.
Next steps separated
Further pruning, removal or stump work can be planned after control is restored.
Keep clear and tell us what has failed
A fallen tree, split stem or branch hanging above a drive needs a different response from routine pruning. Keep people and pets away, and don't stand beneath unstable material to inspect it. When you contact us, explain what has fallen or moved, what may be struck and whether access is blocked. Tell us if the tree is close to overhead lines or other utilities. Clear photographs taken from a safe distance can help us understand the position and scale. We provide dedicated emergency tree work from Selsey, but you should call to confirm daily availability because fixed opening hours aren't published.

Control the immediate hazard before follow-on work
Our first aim is to make the affected area manageable. That may involve securing access, removing a suspended branch or dealing with unstable parts of a failed tree. Tensioned timber and split sections can move when cut, so we assess them before starting. Once the immediate concern is controlled, we can discuss further pruning, full removal, storm clearance or stump work as separate stages. Access for equipment and the route out for heavy material also matter. Please don't move branches or attempt cuts simply to improve a photograph. A safe description from a distance is far more useful.
Frequently asked questions
What should we do near a hanging branch?
Keep everyone away from the area beneath and around it. Don't pull it down, climb nearby or try to cut attached material. Call us with a description and safe photographs, including what lies below the branch and whether it blocks essential access.
What information shows that the work is urgent?
Tell us what has failed, when it happened and what could be affected. Blocked access, suspended branches, split stems and movement towards buildings are important details. Mention nearby utilities and provide your property location when you call.
Does emergency work include full clearance?
The immediate task may focus only on controlling the hazard. Complete removal, processing larger timber or grinding a stump can require further planned work. We explain the practical stages once the unstable material has been assessed.
